In 2022, Silverback supported Coop Italia in the development of Oasi Urbane (Urban Oases), a project aimed at highlighting the environmental and social value of reclaiming urban green spaces. The initiative brought together 150 young people from cooperative associations across Italy for three days of workshops, training sessions, and fieldwork.

It kicked off in Milan, where participants helped regenerate a green area, Rogoredo Park, a former confiscated lot in the city outskirts. The initiative, linked to the Pre-COP26 events hosted in the city, combined fieldwork with workshops and public moments, including an “environmental” standup show and expert talks. Over three days, the young participants, guided by Silverback and technical partners, took part in the planting of 1,000 shrubs and trees, while also discussing climate resilience, urban regeneration, and the power of collective action. 

Following this experience, the young participants brought the model back to their home communities, helping to spark the creation of new urban oases across the country. In the months that followed, ten Oasi Urbane were established in different Italian regions, resulting in the planting of 10,000 trees and shrubs. These green spaces became the heart of local educational, social, and regeneration projects, extending the impact of the original initiative nationwide.
