Transforming complex environmental issues into powerful, inclusive experiences. Accendiamo il futuro (Let’s Light Up the Future) is a two-day event in Rome focused on energy in all its forms: environmental, social, and symbolic. The initiative brought together more than 100 young green activists under 30 from across Italy’s cooperative world, along with students from an art high school.

Across two days, the group staged a luminous flash mob in a city center square and created a large-scale “smog-eating” mural at the Rebibbia metro station, led by the street artist Luogo Comune. The messages they illuminated in Piazza del Popolo (“Switch off the climate crisis” and “Switch on the energy future”) amplified their call for a sustainable transition. Alongside the creative interventions, the participants cleaned and revitalized the public space surrounding the metro station, transforming it into a powerful symbol of community energy and environmental commitment. 

The project is part of a climate campaign by COOP Italia. The goal: to engage and activate younger generations.
